First Grade Field Trip!

I got to spend the day with Lucy and her classmates yesterday as the ventured out on their end-of-the-year field trip.  First stop:  The Great Lakes Children's Museum.  This was excellent.  Lucy enjoyed the water table, the puppets, art, and the slide.  She also ran through the "rain".  The staff gave a presentation on the water cycle and lots of fun activities happened there, too.

After the museum we headed across the street to a playground where we ate and...PLAYED!

Once we got our wiggles out, we headed to the final stop of the day: MOOMERS!  We had the tour of the farm and milking barn; we even got to give a bottle to a calf.  And of course we had a turn learning how the ice cream is made, a tour of the freezers, and a taste of the ice cream.  YUMMO!

Root, Root, Root for the Rogers!

It's baseball time!  The boys have gotten underway with a few games already.  There has been a lot of action to behold from the bleachers.  Owen has played mulitple positions, mostly infield.  He has been doing well in the field, and made some excellent plays last night at short stop and first base.  His bat has definitely come alive already.

Mitchell has played right field so far.  Tuesday he had some monster hits, and last night he made a great throw from deep right to second base.

Lucy joins the ranks of game play tonight.  More reports from the fan in the stands to follow.  :)

Pedaling at Petrie

New bikes had been purchased with the intent of taking the old bikes over to Grammy's.  Monday we loaded up the wheels and even got a chance to take a test pedal in her most excellent biking neighborhood.  We had pure bike joy going on.  It was fabulous.  We are definitely looking forward to more time on wheels this summer.

Weekend Warriors

Our weeks are filled with school and baseball practice, so when weekends come they are filled with everything else.  We do find moments to have some fun though.

Today will have more outdoor play before we hose them off for the return to school.  :)

Birds of a Feather

Lucy and I went to Tractor Supply to get scratch grain for our chickens.  Ok, I went for scratch grain, Lucy had other ideas;  I turned around and she was back by the live chicks.  A few minutes later we left the store with scratch grain, chick starter, and 6 bantam chicks.

Since acquiring the new chicks, the construction of a new Chicken Condo has taken place (it was scheduled for this spring, it just got moved up on the project list).

All the High Notes

Mitchell has been playing clarinet this year for Mr. Jones in the 5th grade band. All of the bands came together for their end-of-the-year concert on April 30th.
It was fantastic!  After all the music, we found out that Mitchell earned an award of excellence for beginning band students.  What a proud moment!
