Progress on the Nursery and Toddler Translation

Ken re-hung the lights, so last night and today I worked on the detail painting in Miss Lucy's room. I am becoming very pleased with the overall look. The flowers will be mainly underneath this window on the one section of darker green paint. A few token flowers will be in other places around the room. Here is what it looked like after my work last night and this morning.

Light yellow and lavender flowers.

And you can't forget my supervisor...

On a different note, Owen is jabbering up a storm. Some of his words, like shoe, up, chair, and choo-choo are right on, very clear. Others definitely have an interesting ring to them. See if you can guess what our little man is saying:
  • Hap-fa
  • En-doe
  • Mon-ee
  • Tee-toe
  • Tie-tie
  • Ka-ko (long o)
  • Moon
If you make a guess I will email you back with your "score". :)

The Great Aunt Amy

Last Wednesday, my Aunt Amy came up from Illinois to help us once again. (She gave us countless hours of help when we were building this house, by staining, painting, and lots of other odd jobs we stuck her with.) This time she was working on painting Lucy's room as well as the other side of the office wall. She also brought fabrics for me to finish Lucy's quilt.

She started at 1:47 pm Wednesday afternoon and by before 5pm had a first coat on Lucy's room. WOW! Inspired by her hard work, I put in some time and made much progress on her quilt. Here is what it looks like now.

I am hoping to do a little accent work with paint here this week using the yellow and purple from the quilt. We shall see if that happens or not.

The Corn Doesn't Fall from the Stalk

Those of you who know my dad, you know that Papa Frank can eat his fair share of corn on the cob... and then some.... and some more.... and maybe a bit more after that. It seems that his 2 grandsons are definitely following in his footsteps. Here they are tonight, chowing down their fair share... and then some! I think they had more than Ken and I did!

Wagon Upgrade

Our boys just LOVE to mow the lawn with Daddy. The wagon ride behind the mower was great, but apparently it didn't meet with Papa Denny's standards. So here we are again a week or so ago, in the newly upgraded form of mowing transportation.

(Owen, checking out his new ride)

In action with Daddy.

Lucy

Today at the doctor Lucy gave us a heart rate of 144. All is looking good as the weeks progress. She is definitely becoming more active now--she seems to hold nightly kickboxing classes in my belly.

Banana Batter Monkey Business

First of all: YAY!!!!!! I am done with school for the summer!!!!!!!! WHEE!

Since being "released" from duty at noon on Friday, we have defnitely been able to enjoy a few fun mo
ments. The boys helped me make banana bread again from a friend's recipe.... And it turns out having 2 helpers is ~much~ more effective. We got 2 loaves to turn out!!!!!

The boys are also getting very creative in their play together. In this instance, they decided the cooler Grammy brought over would be the perfect spot to sit with each other.

At other times Owen latches on to Mitchell's shirt and tugs and pulls his big brother around. Other times they act like a choo-choo train together.

And at some points in time (altogether too often), Owen is just far too quick for any of us, and this is the result.
