The Cup is Definitely Half Full :)

Today was picture day at school, and because the boys were all fancied up for photos we took the chance to try to capture all 3 kids in one location... plus props! Each kiddo was gifted a fancy silver cup with their name and birth date on it from the Mintzers, and Barry had requested that we try to show them in a picture. This was our attempt at that. The boys loved playing with them, and we got several shots just with them goofing around, looking and talking into the cups. Shots with Miss Lucy were limited, as she was mad that Mommy wasn't holding her.

Lucy has been enjoying more quality Daddy time now that his work schedule has slowed down. She and Dad play together Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays and have lots of fun. She likes to climb into the egg chair, especially when someone will come and pull down the lid and play "peekies" with her. She also loves bathtime. Tonight I gave her a bath by herself, and when she was all done I dried her off and let her crawl around naked for a few minutes while I got Owen in the tub. As I am washing his hair, she crawls around through the other door, over to the tub, and starts climbing in again. So she bathed a 2nd time with Owen and had big fun.

We'll have more updates on Owen's school adventures soon,
as well as Mr. Kindergarten himself. Stay tuned!

Pretty School

The big day arrived today! Owen's first day of "prettyschool" started off with a big smile as he ran upstairs for breakfast. Look at the grin on his face once he donned his new backpack! His outfit was completed with Lightning McQueen shoes. He was so proud to be going to school with Mommy and Mitchell. He loved playing in my room before classes started, and he was all sorts of ready to walk down the hall to his classroom when the time came.

Keep in mind Owen has a history of "escaping" from supervision. I warned his teachers about this a while ago, so today when one of his teachers caught me in the hall and lead off with "you know when you told me he bolts, I was just envisioning the door..." (Enter this mother's "EEK!"-type thought) Apparently this morning his class was getting ready for recess when his teachers noticed that he was climbing out the awning window feet first--and was almost out! Thankfully, his room looks out onto the fenced in playground, and the window is all of 18 inches to 2 feet from the ground, but still!!!! Needless to say the security has to be beefed up to Owen standards.

Not to forget Mitchell's big start last week either.
He was very eager to begin Kindergarten with Mrs. Manley, whom he adores. Things have gone very well other than he has been forgetting his prized Batman lunch bag at school. He is very excited about the fact that he is the milk helper this week. Here he is last week, and one with Mrs. Manley this morning.

Not to be out done, Miss Lucy is in self education mode when it comes to mobility. She is now standing for brief stretches without holding on to anything. She will take a few steps while holding someone's fingers, or shuffle from side to side while bracing herself against furniture. She's a speedy crawler, can squat, and swat at her brothers. She can also grind her teeth (watch out Aunt Ruthie), click her tongue, and blow bubbles. She is also in love with the Curious George stuffed animal we have. Here she is, on the attack this weekend.

I am surviving the grade change so far. Things are crazy hectic with learning the new curriculum, etc, but I am sort of managing to keep my head above water. I am trying to fight off the unfortunately traditional back-to-school-germ-invasion-sleep-deprivation-voice-strain sore throat. We'll see who will win... right now it's the germ.

Smile and say Kindergarten!

Tonight at dinner Mitchell's dangler fell right out. Here he is showing of his new opening in his smile. Looks like Kindergarten will start off with a visit from the Tooth Fairy!

The 10:00 Skunk Club

Here's one for memorable family moments:

Last night Ken and I were sitting in the house enjoying the breeze when all of the sudden we noticed a VERY foul odor. SKUNK! We raced around to shut the windows before the stench settled in too much. We find Charlie outside, dripping wet with skunk spray. YUCK! So we try calling the animal control officer (Ken's dad) to see what is the best for cutting the smell, but he isn't answering his phone. Luckily, Mom was just a phone call away, and she was ready with a special skunk remedy from her ~many~ rounds of late night skunk showers with Cricket. While Mom drove over, Ken went down and talked to his dad and learned lemon juice is also good for cutting skunk.
So Charlie got bathed late last night and slept in the garage; she'll be the proud owner of many baths in her near future I'm sure.

That's what I get for taking a nap yesterday morning.....
