The Fun Continues

Arg! August already!!!!!!
As our summer days are slipping though our fingers, we are still having lots of fun together.

We just took the boys back-to-school shopping the other day and they have practically been living in their new backpacks. They wear them almost all day long. Mitchell is excited the most for his new lunch bag. He is now playing "Kindergarten" at home around the clock. When he isn't playing school, he is usually building with Legos.

Owen likes playing "Preschool" and is anxiously awaiting his first day at school too. He is progressing with potty training quite a bit (it isn't required at his preschool, but we'd like to have him as far along as we can). Here he is modeling his underwear.

Lucy is keeping us very busy with her increasing mobility. She still prefers commando, but does crawl on her knees for short stretches, and has recently begun pulling herself up to a kneel or stand. When transitioning from crawling to sitting, she dabbles in a bear stance (feet and hands touch, no knees). She is also waving hello and goodbye now, too!

We had a lovely play date with a friend of mine and her 3 kids earlier today. She managed to get some pretty great pictures of the kids in action so I should have those up soon too.

Corny Kids

We've been having some lovely weather here, and we have been trying to eat out on the deck with the kids more. Last night we had the summer time favorite, corn-on-the-cob. Here are the kiddos eating it up, literally.
Lucy now insists on eating whatever it is that we are having.
There will be no more baby food for this baby!

Mitchell was making a sage comment, as usual.
Owen was reacting to being "caught" trying to steal Mommy's corn.

Here is Grammy with her 3 grandkids.... A pretty cute bunch! This was taken after Grammy rescued Mommy from an unusually bad night... she came midday to play with the boys so the 2 Rogers girls could nap. Grammy played outside with them and took them to the play-place for a cool drink and fun!

Big excitement: Next week Mommy is in class a few days, so The Great Aunt Amy is going to help Grammy watch the 3 kiddos. There should be some quality posts to follow!

A Woman on a Mission

Lucy apparently has plans... big plans. Today she pulled herself to a stand. TWICE! Then this afternoon, she actually crawled across the floor several feet before collapsing. This new development will surely be the undoing of her Mommy's sanity!!!!

The Days Fly By

Here we are, nearing the end of July. I can hardly believe it. We've been keeping busy here as usual. Today I had a "special day" with Owen. He had an appointment in prep for Preschool this fall, so we took to opportunity and made it a Mommy and Owen day. We had loads of fun, despite the 58 degrees and frequent rain. I must have done something right, because he conked out in the car on the way to pick up Mitchell and Lucy.

Could they be the next Blues Brothers??? ha ha ------->

Mitchell is very in to Hot Wheels and Ninja Turtles. His days are spent pretending--we are blessed that he has such an imagination! He is asking us to take the training wheels off of his bike.... not sure about that, but we'll see.

Lucy amazes us all. She spends much time rocking on all 4s and sitting by herself. She is trying to pull herself up on things but thankfully that hasn't happened yet. She claps and nods her head, and also shakes her head no. She is the proud owner of 4 teeth, and insists on eating whatever we are having. There will be no more baby food according to her!

She is full of laughs and smiles often for her brothers. This bus is definitely one of her favorite toys. She will commando across the room for this one.

I love my sister!

She's mine!

Sitting at Attention

Ken and I were checking the monitor tonight before attempting to go to bed, and the screen blinked to Lucy's room.... Ken and I turned to each other and said, "Is she sitting?". Sure enough, our little girl knows how to get herself to a sitting position on her own now.... I think Karma had Lucy doing a full Ab workout over the weekend, priming her for such adventures!

Chi Town Fun

Ken and I have just returned from our weekend trip to the Windy City. After depositing the kids at their respective care-givers Friday morning (THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!), we made our way in to Illinois for some much needed get-away time.
Friday night we saw Cirque Shanghai on Navy Pier--WOW! What an amazing performance! Then Saturday we made our way (albeit slowly, thanks to the Red Line being shut down) to Wrigley Field for Rich Hardin's debut pitching for the Cubs. We sat in some great seats (THANK YOU LEE!) and watched a fantastic game. The newest Cub pitched 6 shut out innings.

Aside from the multitude of Cub hits, we also got to see a homer from Jim Edmonds. And for the 7th inning stretch--Dick Butkus sang in true form. He is the legendary Bear after throwing the first pitch.

All in all, a great game...so at the end of the 8th the Cubs were up 7-2, so we got up to make our way home before at least some of the crowd. We board the El and make our way back down town, and as we're walking we're overhearing people say that the game isn't over!!!!! Apparently the Giants tied it up in the 9th. Ken and I didn't know whether or not to believe it at first, but we hear more people talking about it on the way back to the hotel.... We turn on the TV, and sure enough, we're watching the Cubs in the top of the 11th inning. Sean Marshall was now pitching, then later he got a hit, and the Cubs finally won the game in the bottom of the 11th! Madness!!!! Oh well, at least they won!

Later in the evening we walked around Michigan Avenue side streets, and wound up dining at an awesome little Italian place across from the hotel. Excellent menu overall, and Ken and I were both very pleased with our choices. The night was topped off with ice cream at Ghirardelli's. You can't go wrong there!

It was a wonderful weekend. Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen!

Happy 4th Everyone!

Here in Cadillac the fireworks are tomorrow (why, I don't know). So today was relatively quiet in our world (YAY!). We spent most of the day out there with the kiddos and they enjoyed every moment. We were trying to make sure Owen was physically exhausted at the end of the day (he had a horrible night last night!!!!!) so he ~might~ crash easily. Our strategy worked.... today.

Anyways, here are the lovely Rogers kids. They are fireworks enough for us. :)

All 3 kids still LOVE bath time. This was their first all together.

Owen almost always winds up taking off his footwear while outside. He even takes off socks... we discovered this today when we found like 3 pairs of his socks out in the sandbox.

Mitchell has become quite the peddler. He races his bike around all over the place.

If you look, you can see one of her beautiful top teeth here! She loves swinging and I finally got at least one of her 3 chompers caught on camera.

Tomorrow we will likely take Mitchell to see the fireworks in Cadillac, but the younger two will hopefully be sleeping through them. I hope that you all enjoy the 4th in your neck of the woods.
