Let Her Eat Cake

I am struggling with the concept that Lucy is just days away from her first birthday, but over the weekend we had a small celebration to mark the big occasion. Lucy wasn't so sure about the whole cake-thing; in fact, she started by just picking off the sprinkles and eating those. After a few minutes went by (and the sugar started kicking in) she became much more involved in the experience.














Owen insisted on having the cupcake with the big 1 candle on it, apparently because he thought that it was edible. Here is his reaction when he found out otherwise. I can't hold it against him; there is some candle-eating history in his genetic code.
