Mander's Visit, Day 1

Cousin Amanda drove up for the weekend to get some time on skis. We had an awesome, sun-filled time today.

When it was all said and done, Manda and I left Ken at work at we headed home to get the kids from Grammy. We then picked up dinner and took it to our house. Lucy apparently had ~way~ too much fun at Grammy's today, because she konked out on the way home, stayed asleep through the undoing of the carseat, walk outside in the cold into the house, and laying down on the couch, still in her coat and shoes even! There she slept for almost 2 hours while we ate and played. After we ate, Mitchell and Owen took turns spelling words on Amanda's back, and then they educated her on all that there is about Bakugan. It was a great day.

Tomorrow Manda and I will take the boys out skiing with us for a little while. That should yield high-quality fun for sure!

June bugs

The levels of Forest Tent Caterpillars here in Boon is absolutely REPULSIVE. I hate going outside because I honestly fear that small children....heck, even my house may be carried away by these wriggling creatures. There is no number to describe the sheer volumes of these furry leaf-eating worms that have overtaken our surroundings. The kids are coping, but it is a struggle to enjoy outside time with them because a) the worms are everywhere, they even fall as if from the sky, b) they cover pretty much every surface in our yard (we usually cannot see the concrete near the front door due to the caterpillar carpet, nor can we find the garage, playset, or playhouse.... and just forget about the sandbox!), and c) they are on the kids toys too.
Soooooooooooooooo.... I am trying to take them to different parks for playtime, but its hard not to enjoy your own yard. Today, while trying to ward off the worms, Mitchell successfully biked on his 2 wheeler, no training wheels. YAY! An accomplishment to say the least when you have very little flat surface on which to pedal.

Owen successfully "kept his trophies" all day (aka kept his pants dry/poopless, for all you non-pull-up people out there). Potty training has definitely been LONG and slow with him, but today was a welcome success for everyone.

Lucy is talking, talking, talking. She is also walking everywhere, and demanding to do everything for her very own self. Today she was breaking land-speed records trying to walk down the driveway and down to Papa Denny's house. She was a woman on a mission to say the least...maybe she was trying to outrun te worms. Every day she walks outside and spends about 5 minutes squatting down looking at all the "bugs" as she calls them. Then later when she spots one that has crawled on her she freaks out, crying out "Bug! Bu--g!" shaking whatever appendage they have attached to. Apparently she tires herself out, cause she zonked out the other night... too cute of a shot to pass up.

ARG! Pirates and Putters

So Lucy is apparently having trouble adjusting to hotel life here, as noted by her repeat performance of wakefulness last night... long story short, I've been up since 1:30 this morning, after being rouse at 4:15 the night before....

Noting our extreme fatigue, we scratched the Disney trip today and have rescheduled it for tomorrow. We decided to hang here at the hotel for the day instead. We played a rousing round of putt-putt golf this morning with Grammy B and Aunt Ruthie. Then after lunch we managed to have some quality time at the Pirate Pool! Later Ken and I took the kids to the little playground here too. It was topped off by taco dinner at Grammy and Ruthie's room. YAY!

Other info of note: Mitchell lost ANOTHER tooth last night in bed. There is more to that story but I'll save it for another post.

My connection here is oddly slow, so we'll see how many pictures I actually decide to upload.

Jammie Day

For Christmas Lucy and I were gifted matching jammies.... how fun to be twinners with Lucy Jane! However, we've been twins in more ways that just our jammies. My sleep issues continue. In the last month my best nights have been maybe 6 hours long. On average, I'd say I get about 4 and a half hours in a night. In the last 2 nights, I have gotten a grand total of 7 hours of sleep, and that is if you are very generous with the math. Miss Lucy has taken it upon herself to fight naps lately. So apparently we can get up and be cute together when we aren't sleeping.
