First Day, Version 2016

This summer I had to switch classrooms.  That was made more interested by the fact that pretty much both arms were on the Do Not Use list.  Thankfully, the kids helped me get my room ready.

The 2016-17 school year finds the Rogers' kids in 8th, 6th, and 4th grades. I am still running a Resource Room for kids with special needs.  The boys are both up in the Jr./Sr. High building, and Lucy and I are holding our own in the K-5 building.

Lucy Jane Rogers, starring as the 4th grader.
Owen Rogers, in the role of 6th grader.
Mitchell Rogers, starring as the lone teenager of the house, 8th grader.

This year's shoes (who am I kidding???).  The current shoes.
I didn't get a new back pack this year, but I did get a new car.  No more mini-van!

Out of the Mouths of Babes...

This is too good to pass up the replay.  Owen was feverish yesterday so we thought it best for him to stay with Grammy and Lucy today.  While using the turn signals on a pretend driver toy, Owen asks Grammy B: "Why does your neighborhood have so many streets?"
Grammy replied,  "I  don't know.  I wasn't here when the road  was made."   It was decided (I think by Owen)  that God makes streets.   Some conversation follows, and Owen states that God lives in the sky.  Lucy breaks in at this point, "No!  God lives down here, by Uncle Marc and Aunt Mary!"

Trick or Treat: Version 2009

The cherubs were eager and excited as usual for the annual sugar celebration. It is still hard for me to get used to having trick-or-treating be a car-based activity, but the boys have it down. This was Lucy's first real go at it, and boy did she like it! She kept saying "more can-ny" as we went from house to house. They made out like bandits; you could see the sugar levels start glazing over their eyes as we progressed.

Summertime Arrives+Worm Reduction=YAY!

We finally received some warmth over the last few days, most noticeably today. And double bonus, the worms are finally starting to ease off a bit (and I can actually stomach being outside). The kids were eager to wash Mommy's car for her. Much fun and frolicking with the hose occurred. Lucy had fun adding rocks to the bowl to wash.

Owen earned new underwear--he chose Batman and Spiderman.

This week will be busy. Usual "Tonia Day" Tuesday, the Mommy has a graduate credit to take Wednesday and Thursday in Traverse City, so Grammy Baleiko has graciously taken Wednesday's child supervision duties, and the kids will again go to Tonia on Thursday. Next week will be even more interesting; the boys go to day camp! Mitchell will be there full day all week, and Owen has his own special Preschool camp for a few hours on Tuesday and Thursday of that week.
