A Hard Day's Work, or Getting Things Set in Stone, or Driveway Delivery

We've been watching the weather forecasts obsessively this week, making phone calls to line up help, hoping it would be dry enough to pour concrete on part of the driveway. At 6:45 am the call verified that we would go ahead and try to get it in today. They said the trucks would be here at 8:30 AM as planned. At 8:17, the first truck rumbled into our driveway! Needless to say we were not expecting early birds, but thankfully our helpful friends arrived in the nick of time and got right to work.

The kids loved the whole event. They sat spellbound in front of the window watching for quite a while, and in true form, asked many questions of me while we did. The continued asking lots of concrete questions while we drove to their soccer games. They are awaiting the day that they can ride bikes on it (although I am sure they will not be so excited about the first skinned knee that the driveway delivers).

Two trucks, much hard work, and several hours later, we have phase 1 of the driveway complete. It was looking very nice tonight as Ken and I pulled plastic over it.
