Hitting the Slopes

Finally released for Christmas Break at noon, we wasted no time in beginning the festivities.  We had the kids in their gear and skiing by 3pm.  It was Lucy's first trip!  It was a perfect day to hit the bunny hill--it wasn't crowded and the snow was good.  They all enjoyed getting the hang of things again;  Mitchell and Owen were whizzing down the hill, turning, and stopping with big smiles on their faces.

Man!  These are heavy!!!

I'm ready!
Whoo!  Let's go!

Off to the races!

Choirs of Angels Sang

Ok, so I am in BIG trouble from the Momenator  for slipping up on this one, and understandably so.  The boys had their holiday concert Thursday and their classes sang for the crowds (I apparently forgot to mention this date to Mom, so she was not among the audience).  The kids all did such a nice job!  And kudos to our music teacher, Mrs. Gaylord, for getting them all prepared for their big night.  Ken, Lucy, and I watched and enjoyed it all.... well, except for the part where the folding chair folded up on Lucy!  Other than that show stopping moment it was a lovely performance.

Up on the housetop!

Owen snapping (he's been practicing snapping for weeks, and I didn't know it was for this!)
Mitchell, scoping out the audience trying to find us. (Ruthie-- snipers use these for night vision. haha)

England!

I just got back today from a whirlwind trip to England to see my friend Mark.  WOW! We spent Friday walking around London, including highlights like Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, and of course King's Cross.  Saturday was Cambridge and his base,  then Sunday we went to see HARRY POTTER!  What an adventure!

Feeling Puffed....

This year we stayed in Boon for Thanksgiving and had the Rogers side of the family joined us. I made sure the Naperville Baleikos were represented at the table by making Aunt Mary's cranberry-raspberry relish.  I also made my first pumpkin pie (yay!  It turned out and it was very yummy!).  The rest was up to the chef.   Ken lived up to his standards and put on quite a spread.  It was amazing.

I found particular joy in realizing that the kid table lives on, and is a logistical necessity when feeding that many people.  I also loved the fact that the cousins were playing downstairs and had infinite amounts of fun.... very much like when the Baleiko cousins played downstairs at Naperville.  Good times.  Good times....

I won't be able to take a walk around the subdivision with you tonight--cousins, but while you're out walking, move a couch into the road for me.  :)

Happy Birthday, Owen!

Owen was seeing green today--we all were!  The cupcakes he took in for his classmates Thursday and his cake for today were both GREEN, with GREEN frosting!  He's still very much into dogs and puppies so we had a puppy theme again while friends and family helped us celebrate the big day.

Getting the Ears Lowered

4 out of 5 Rogers family members had their ears lowered courtesy of Kate-Lynn's Hair Salon today.  I think all 4 of the 5 would recommend it.  ;)

Fresh haircuts for all!  Owen even got dipped in green!

Pumpkin Launch 2010

The Rogers family held  the 2nd Annual Pumpkin Launch on Monday, November 1st.  This event had mixed reviews initially.... the youngest two were concerned with the impending demise of said pumpkins.  However, they were convinced to go through with the launch and became enthusiastic as the pumpkins crashed below us.  I am hopeful that as they age and become more aware of physics (particularly catapults) that this event will have its own upward trajectory.
