Mackinac Island

The 5th graders venture to Mackinac Island for their annual field trip, and I was able to go with Owen.  While it was a very cool day (55ish, cloudy, breezy), we did manage to stay dry while we toured parts of the island.  Our first piece of the trip was riding the ferry under the Mackinac Bridge.

Once we got on the island, we boarded our first horse-drawn carriage for part 1 of our tour.

The boys managed to be given some free rock candy by the clerk.  Lucky, lucky.

On the 2nd part of the tour we had a 3-horse team.  The one on the left was Mitch!

We went to Arch Rock and Fort Mackinac.  We even got involved in one of their marching demonstrations.

We had a few minutes on Main Street to buy some treats,

but before we knew it, it was time to board the ferry again.  It was a great trip!  Many thanks to the 5th grade teachers for organizing this trip!

Mitchell to Mackinac

Mesick's 5th grade traditionally goes to Mackinac Island for their end-of-the-year field trip.  The day starts bright and early, leaving the school by 7am.

The ferry had a scavenger hunt for students to complete on the trip to the island.  Once there, they got to tour Fort Mackinac almond with the rest of the island. Mitchell really liked the fudge. :)
