Field Trip Fun with Owen

Today Owen's and the rest of the first graders had their end-of-the-year field trip.  In the morning, we went to the Great Lakes Children's Museum.

Owen and I both could have stayed at the water table the whole time.  It was very fun!

After lunch, we got back on the bus and headed to Moomer's.  The trip included a wagon ride around the farm, and stops at the barn to see where and how the cows get milked.  We also got the low-down on how the owner cares for cows, and Owen got to be the model for a demonstration on how Mr. Plummer gives medicines to cows.  After that, we got to see a calf.  Then it was back up to the shop, and once the kids cleaned up, they got the scoop from Mrs. Plummer on how the ice cream is made.

Bob Plummer, teaching the 1st graders about how many stomachs cows have, and how much they eat.

Nancy Plummer, giving the ins and outs of ice-cream-making.
And what trip would be complete without trying the ice cream?????
